library." With a
gesture he indicated the great piles of books behind him. "There is much
ancient lore
there on almost every subject under the sun - or under the earth -
including dragons.
If you can't find anything there that will enable you to succeed in your
quest, then you
are even more of a fool than I took you for."
Fred bristled at this, and made as if to draw his sword, but Astra laid a restraining hand on his arm. Unperturbed, Splitgrave went on: "Don't try to sneak a look in any of my books before I am dead, though. They have been protected by magic against any attempts at tampering, and that magic will only cease to function once I have ceased to be. But you see that big tome over there, bound in black leather inscribed with sigils in red? Leave that well alone. It is very dangerous to the uninitiated, and it will remain so even after my death." "You said you would aid Astra before your demise," Fred reminded the necromancer.
