Stacy quirked a skeptical eyebrow at Chris and waited for him to continue. He swallowed nervously and did so. "You see, at first it wasn't money I wanted you to forget about. You... found out some things about me... that I'd rather no one knew. So I borrowed the money from you -- I told you it was for medical expenses, for my mother -- and I slipped you the drugs." He gave her an anguished look. "I didn't know they would make you forget everything! They -- the people I bought the stuff from -- told me it would only wipe out recent memories. I didn't mean to take your whole life, Stacy, just a month or so! But... Well, afterwards some of your memories started to come back, and you got curious and started asking the wrong questions... So I had to dose you again. And now..."

  1. "...I'm all out of the drugs, so I guess the game is up for good."
  2. "...I've had to do it again. I'm sorry, Stacy, but you should be feeling the effects soon. I put it in your tea."
  3. "...I just can't believe I let it come to this. I'm so sorry, Stacy. Please, forgive me!"
