A Necromancer Slightly Past His "Best Before" Date

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14691

Fred eventually recovers the power of speech, and says: "Forgive me if I don't take your hand." Belboz possibly smiles at Fred's remark. Fred can't be entirely sure, since it is hard to interpret the expression on a face that is little more than a skull. "That's quite all right," the lich replies. "In fact it's better that you don't. There's a risk that you might take my hand in an altogether too literal sense, as it's no longer connected to my arm by very much."

Fred turns to Astra. "I wasn't expecting a lich," he says. "Why didn't you warn me?" Astra answers:

  1. "I did not realise it until now, Master. He disguised it from me."
  2. "I did not tell you that Belboz was a lich, Master, because you might have been unwilling to consult him had you known, and he is the only one with enough power to do what you want."
  3. "I am sorry, but when I found Belboz he immediately detected my presence, and using his great magic power he placed me under his control. He is my Master now."
  4. "I am not permitted to use any initiative in what I do or tell you. "
