At the end of the stream was another post. Fred waded out to the
shore, tied the boat to the post, and walked onto the bank.
Next to him was a marble pillar upon which rested an old book with yellowed pages which were nonetheless in surprisingly good condition. The letters on the page were written in no language he'd ever heard of. Something about it made him uneasy. Probably, it was magic. Any piece of magic the Dragon had around was probably harmful and should be destroyed. On the other hand, the White Hand might pay him handsomely if he gave it to them for study, and destroying it on his own might be dangerous. It might be better if it were in their hands.
