Frederina
The Never Ending Quest - Episode 1441

Zular's mansion was found in the city of Obsallom, the center of
the Duchy of
Trescent. Fred came from the Duchy of Suffex which was to the south and he
would not
be able to ride all the way home and make it back before tonight's meeting.
But luckily he
did not have to. Before he had traveled to Obsallom, he had checked up on
his family. He
had not contacted them, so they did not know that he had returned. Fred
just wanted to
make sure that they were clear of the capitol before the King was
assassinated. And so
Fred knew that Frederina was visiting Obsallom and now he sought her out to
discover
what link she had with Zular.
Disguised in a common soldier's robes, Fred rode toward the house of Lady Champlaine. Frederina and Champlaine were close friends. As he trotted through the market square, he suddenly heard a loud voice say, "Excuse me, but aren't you the daughter of Duke Dredrik of Suffex?" Fred brought his horse to a halt and turned toward the voice. A rich merchant stood by a stall waving his hands, his face one big smile. Before him stood Frederina and her lady in waiting. Fred dismounted and walked toward them. The merchant seemed to be trying to convince Frederina to set up an appointment for him with her father. Fred shook his head; the carefree life of the rich and royal was something of a myth. Lords and Ladies were never free of favor-seekers and small-time power brokers. As they walked past, his horse accidentally kicked up a large spray of mud onto the merchant. He screeched in indignation and turned on Fred. Fred bowed low and apologized, but the man just hollered louder. Frederina was fighting back laughter. Fred turned to her and beseeched her help, but as he turned his boot caught the merchant man who fell in mid-holler onto the muddy ground. A crowd had gathered and began to laugh and before anyone could notice Fred leaned in to his sister and showed her his face. Her eyes widened in surprise. He whispered to her and she immediately began to scold him, very loudly. Fred meekly apologized to her and began to lead his horse away. The merchant got to his feet and reached out to grab him but Frederina stepped in the way and began to harangue him about getting her muddy and using foul language in front of a Lady. The merchant flinched back and began to whimper excuses, blaming the idiot soldier. Frederina only got more angry and finally the merchant bowed his head and disappeared into the crowd. Frederina then turned away from the laughing mob and made her way out of the market square. She stopped suddenly and ordered her attendant to purchase some silks. When she left, Frederina strolled to a nearby side street.
