Burn... Burning... Burning Fight!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14277

Fred knew the Fire Hydrant was a deadly opponent. In all the heroic sagas of his homeland, no warrior ever defeated a hydrant without paying a terrible price. Horace the Bold battled one, and, losing all his hair in the process, was thereafter known as, well, Horace the Hairless. George the Mighty slaughtered an entire nest of hydrants - but upon returning home, found his castle razed to the ground by rampaging Craw Wurms. But there was no more time to reminisce - the hydrant was attacking!

I'll just outdo them all, Fred decided, and yelled a savage battlecry as he charged the hydrant. The creature was unimpressed, but immediately howled in agony as Fred set to hacking at it's thorax with his sword - the legendary Blade of Aquapool, a +4 against fire-based monsters and dragons. Ignoring the heat and the roaring in his ears Fred kept chopping like a man possessed. But soon enough his hands got tired, and the hydrant boxed his ears with it's blazing antenna. Fred howled in agony in turn - the beast followed up with a quick punch-kick-punch combo, ending with an Unblockable move - it rolled it's body up into a ball of flame and smashed into Fred head-on. Fred was saved from becoming a crispy critter only by the magicks of the Blade of Aquapool, which generated an anti-flame forcefield around his body. Still Fred hurtled through the air and became intimately acquainted with the cavewall.

As Fred stumbled to his feet, he realized he had lost his grip on the Blade, and now it lay on the other side of the hydrant, which was rapidly approaching. Fred had a back-up sword, but he knew it's honest steel would be no match for the unholy flame-beast.

  1. Try to get to the Blade.
  2. Backpedal away from the hydrant and try to form a plan.
  3. Run for your life.
