Is Velus an Asset or a Liability?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14212

Fredwynna was not prepared to harm Velus, so she turned and began to run. (She hadn't yet gained enough confidence in her mastery of her new form to attempt to fly, and in any case the exit from the room was too small for that.) The indignity was magnified by the fact that it was her own sword that Velus was wielding, for she had been forced to drop it when she transformed into a dragon and he had spotted it and picked it up.

Fortunately, before she had gone more than a short distance, the witch, Link and Zelda (who hadn't yet left on their own quest) all yelled "Stop!" at Velus simultaneously. "Huh?" he said, confused. "That's Fredwynna, you idiot," Zelda said. "Ah, I was wondering where she had disappeared to. I was afraid the dragon had eaten her." "How can a girl transform into a dragon with you in the room, and you don't even notice?" Zelda asked in an exasperated tone, biting back a comment about Velus being typical of the male sex.

Once Velus had been brought up to speed, Link and Zelda left. Fredwynna knew that she had to take the witch with her. The only question was whether Velus should come along. He was certainly brave, and he might be able to put the sword to good use. On the other hand, judging by what she had seen so far he was both stupid and rash, plus he was only wearing his underwear. [1125] And as a farm-boy, he wasn't trained for this sort of thing.

Unable to speak, she tried to convey her final decision using sign language, namely that:

  1. Velus should come along, assuming he so wished.
  2. Velus should find his way out of the caves, and go home.
