In the Other Room...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 14064

"Timmain!" the two elves whisper with something that approached religious awe.

Moments earlier in Solik'tril/One Eye's room.....

The nurse had just stopped out of the room. There was some sort of brouhaha going on up front and the small group of people next door who'd come to see another elfin boy next door about something had rushed off to see about it. This didn't matter to the worried father of Solik'tril. He was too worried about his boy to pay any attention to other things like that.

"My poor boy," Eric Jones whispers, pushing a lock of hair out of the eyes of his son who was now in a fitful sleep.

One Eye mutters something in his sleep that Spaceman Jones (First Class) can't follow (that odd tongue again he's never heard before).....

".....but they took out my eye and took my daughter!" an increasingly exasperated One Eye says to this.....other....within his mind. "We never found the body! Why should I not....."

"But he saved my life! It was the first memory I have!" Solik'tril says firmly, "My heart chose him as my father. I love him and some of my best friends are human beings! Besides....it looks like you have both of your eyes to me!"

Images and feelings accompany each sides impassioned argument, and soon both sides are just looking at each other.

"So....tell me about this family....and about these Wolfriders," Solik'tril finally asks, trying to make some type of friendly gesture to this odd.....other. The young part of the elf knows that something must be done, else things are not going to get any better here. Sohe does this.

Some parts of the other are still closed to Solik'tril. Something....some word is standing in the way. Some word is preventing Solik'tril from looking deeper into the other part of the other.....the other part of himself.

One Eye blinks, and then smiles....proud and pleased to speak of his tribe....and his family!

Eric Jones listens in as One Eye, unbeknownst to him, shares the history of his tribe and his immediate family not only with Solik'tril (which is indeed himself....just a part of him that hasn't fully integrate yet).

Jones and the nurse that has come in to check on her young charge pause as they hear several words repeated several times throughout the rambling, liquidy speech. One of the repeated words seems to stand out from the others. The most normal seeming word sounds for all the world like "Jenny."

Eric Jones also notes (and makes notes that the universal translator seems to finally be making some headway in translating it all).

"Where is.....?" the nurse begins, looking for his datapad.

A flash of light and a clatter of equipment knocked to the floor as several figures appear out of thin air causes Eric Jones, father of a young elfin child he'd rescued from the flames, shouts in surprise.

Jarlath and his companions hastily apologise to the startled Spaceman Jones. They ascertain from Jones that at least they are - as far as they can tell - in the correct universe, which is a big relief. However competent the mage, there is always the risk of something going spectacularly wrong when casting such an advanced spell, especially if it's done in a hurry. Being at the Military's base at least means that they are well placed to get some transport to take them on to their correct destination.

"Say....what is wrong with your child?" Annafrid asks, concerned.

Whilst the answer would surely have interested Ti'mma indeed, the young elfin lass feels the same draw of kind calling to kind that she excuses herself hastily to answer a call.

So......

"Timmain!" the two elves whisper with something that approached religious awe.

Spaceman Jones, who'd been looking after the young elf who'd hastily excused herself so quickly in askance, has sharp enough ears to hear that name.

"Hey! That's a name that my boy kept saying in his sleep here!" the worried father says, drawing everyone's attention suddenly. "He kept saying Timmain, as well as a few other names like......"

  1. Jenny and her brother jump as they hear Jones say the name of their mother. That and Solik'tril Jone's/One Eye's eyes snap open in surprise, coming instantly out of his slumber in shock at the sound of his livemate's name!
