Before anybody could object, Belboz went on: "It would be very hard to get to 'their' Belboz in order to kill him - he will be well protected - but it occurs to me that not only will I die if you kill him, but he will die if you kill me. We are inextricably linked, you see. And I'm prepared to sacrifice myself in order to save the kingdom." There was a moment of stunned silence, and then:

  1. Jastina said: "No! We can't possibly let you do that."
  2. Embron said: "As you wish." He drew his sword and ran Belboz through.
  3. Ecstasy said: "You brave, brave man," and embraced Belboz.
  4. Ecstasy said: "You brave, brave man," and embraced Belboz, who promptly dropped dead from a heart attack.
