Sir Josh's Execution

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 1394

So, on the twelfth day of the fifth month, Sir Josh was led to the Royal Exectution field. On high-noon he was to be killed for the crime of murdering Lord Fred (who was disguised as a bear) and disrespecting the King of the Great Kingdom.

Hundreds watched as Sir Josh was lead down a red carpet laid over the crab grass. Flanking him were four well-muscled men in black pants, blach shoulder straps and black pointy hoods. Behind the men marched Zular, grinning wildly. Sir Josh had learned to his horror that Zular himself was now the official executioner, the other having perished in a carriage 'accident'.

Beneath the high sun, surrounded by peasents and soilders alike, with nothing around for miles but flat land, Sir Josh was led up ten steps to the thirty foot wide wooden platform. In it's middle was a chopping block stained dark red. The wood below it was stained also.
Without preamble, without a chance for last words, the four hooded men frog-marched Sir Josh to the block and jammed his neck into the dip in the wood.
Zular chuckled as a sharp blade hissed against something. Then...

  1. Sir Josh perished.
  2. Five arrows flew. The four hooded men died, while Zular fell back with three arrows in one arm. It was Aqularian warriors disguised as peasents, attacking the men of th Great Kingdom! War had been declared!
  3. Five arrows flew. The four hooded men died, while Zular fell back with two arrows in his arms. It was warriors of the Great Kingdom, disguised as peasents! A revolution was on!
