Terra Prime Forever--Let the Game Begin...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 13886

"Hey!!!" yelled Paolus. "Didja hear that the second cousin to the third Heir of the High Lord is gonna joust in the Games?...I think his name is Fred."

"Interesting," said Angelus. "But I'm pretty sure my son can beat him. He's been training at swordfighting ever since he was a little baby." This was somewhat exaggerated, but it was pretty much true. Roderigo had been taught much about swordfighting by his father, who had always beleived in the importance of knowing how to use a sword. If Roderigo won, he would be, at twelve, the youngest person ever to win the Game.

"I can beat anyone!" Roddy chimed in.

"Maybe," said Paolus, "but they say this Fred's pretty good. He's rather old too, about 16." The maximum age to play in the game was 17.

"My son may not have experience, but he's got courage, and he's got a lot of innate skill. I'm pretty sure he'll win. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to help train my son for the game."

"Okay!" said Paolus. "Bye!"

After several hours, Roddy had finished training for the day. He had decided to go to Paolus and Aestrina's house to play with Josh. His father had allowed him to go off by himself.

After a while, though, he had gotten lost. He was in an unfamiliar part of town, which was odd, because he had been all over his village.

Suddenly, he bumped into someone. He looked up. The person who he had bumped into was an old man. He looked human, but there was something strange and inhuman about him. He was dressed in the robes of a wizard and was carrying a staff.

"Are you lost?" said the old man.

"Y- yes." said Roddy nervously.

"I can help to find your way back home. But I have to talk with you first."

"A-about what?"

"It's hard to explain. But it's important. Very important."

"What do you mean?"

"The finder."

"What?"

"The finder. You must find the finder. Seek he who seeks The One Who is Many."

"What?!" said Roddy, confused. This old man sounded strange indeed.

Suddenly, the old man screamed. Roddy, shocked, stepped back. “WHO AM I!?” yelled the old man. “WHO AM I!?”

Then, a look of lucidity came over him. “This isn’t right!” he cried out.

”What isn’t right?” asked Roddy.

”Everything,” said the old man. “Everything. You shouldn’t be who you are, and neither should I!”

”What?”

”I’m sorry,” said the old man. “The lucidity comes and goes.” Then, he grabbed Roddy by the shirt. “You must win the game!”

”What game?” asked Roddy. Normally, Roddy would be sure that he was talking about the Game that was coming up, but with this man, perhaps you couldn’t be sure.

”Not your game,” said the old man, “my game. A game of chess. I’ve played it before. The wolf was in chains, but now it’s loose and it’s standing at the door, trying to claw its way in. You alone can find the man who can keep it out.”

”Who?” asked Roddy, frightened by the man’s intensity.

”The lord Frederigo D’Honaire,” responded the old man. “You must gather together all those who are not who they are, and he is the greatest of them all. He alone can help me get me back!” Then, the old man turned away and went off, muttering about reversing the polarity of something-or-other.

Roddy looked around. He now realized he knew where he was, and how to get back home. What had happened? Who had that man been? Roddy decided that it was best to try not to think about these strange events, and just concentrate on practicing for the Game. And he walked over to Paolus’s house.
