Shen Tso decided that she could worry later about who could have placed
the plaque there
(surely not the dragon?). For now, she would follow her instinct. She
recalled
an old Tarani proverb, that she had
presumably acquired along with the language: that which has no
beginning has no
ending. She wasn't sure what it meant, but it seemed applicable to a
circle. Perhaps
the proverb coming to mind was an omen. And if "Perfection Leads to
Success", that too
might point to the circle, for a circle can be viewed as perfection, being
symmetrical
about whatever axis is drawn through its centre. So the circular button
was the
one that she depressed.
With a grinding sound, a section of rock wall slid to one side, revealing a previously hidden tunnel. She entered the tunnel, and followed it for some distance before:
