Belboz smiled, and knelt down to tie the girl's laces for her. As Hannah watched, she thought about how her uncle's genius was infinitely greater than her own intellect—though in much simpler terms, of course. As Fred watched, he silently screamed his misery, already unable to stand being trapped inside such a slow-minded and girlish form. "There we are, you are now worthy of my nephew Iddiott," said Belboz once he stood up. "He likes his ladies to be beautiful, strong, eager, and not very intelligent at all. Of course, that's very much the way he is—tall, muscular, and handsome, but rather slow. Like calls to like, as they say, and that is exactly what you are now like! Now how do you like that?" Hannah didn't fully understand what Belboz was saying, but she got the bottom line: Iddiott would now accept her. She nodded eagerly while Fred wailed wretchedly. The necromancer led her by the hand, sometimes quite literally, through the process of meeting and marrying Iddiott the Fool, who was indeed a fine physical specimen but really quite stupid. Not as stupid as Hannah, though. She couldn't even figure out how to get into her wedding dress, so Belboz put it on her with magic. They were wed before Hannah even realized what was happening, though the same could unfortunately not be said for Fred. He was begging for it to stop the whole time, though of course no one could hear him. And Hannah began her married life with Iddiott, which would inevitably be mostly a fog to her.
