In spite of what the merchant had told them, they found the Red Aggedor
Inn without
too much trouble. Though the Allarian coins which were all that Fred and
Jarlath had were not, of course,
legal tender in Tetrilonia, the innkeeper could see that they were made of
gold and therefore was
willing to accept some of them in payment for a room. They suspected,
however, that he had been
less than fair in the number of coins that he had insisted on taking.
"Is it proper for us to share a room with Astra?" Fred asked, as soon as the innkeeper had left after showing them to their room. "Well, you can't see me, and I can assure you that I am entirely unconcerned about the possibility of seeing you unclothed," Astra said. "Anyway, we can really only afford one room, and even then not for many nights," Jarlath pointed out. "Astra, you said you'd heard legends about the princess and her curse, but that they sounded too improbable to be true," Fred said, looking to change the subject. "Can you tell us more?" "Well, there were several different versions, but in one account the princess was said to be invisible. Which I suppose would no longer seem all that unbelievable, except that it would be such a remarlable coincidence. Another version totally disagrees about the nature of her curse, and says..." At that moment she broke off, for someone was knocking at the door.
