Fred feels very secure riding on Aslan's back. Somehow the lion seems to
project an aura of power and goodness. "What is your name, fair lady?"
Aslan asks.
Fred thinks rapidly. She can hardly continue to call herself
Fred. "Winifred," she
says. "That is a fine name."
By this time, they have left the frozen lake behind, and Aslan is loping through the snow-shrouded forest. "Where are we going?" Winifred asks. "We both have need of food and a warm place to stay the night. So we are heading for the home of some friends of mine, who will look after us."
