Recalling how dangerous and evil a man Ordveert the sorceror was,
Frederika leapt back into the saddle and rode her horse straight at him.
Taken by surprise, Ordveert was slow to react and he fell beneath the
hooves.
Frederika looked back over her shoulder and saw his broken body lying on the ground. He was almost certainly dead but, just in case he wasn't and could still do her some harm, she rode quickly onwards along the wooded path. How strange it was, she thought, that she had first pulled up to avoid running him down accidentally, and now had done so deliberately. She had lost her armour and her sword through Ordveert's sorcery, but at least she still had her mighty white charger. Though she hated the thought, since he was now her only asset she would probably have to sell him so she could buy a weapon and some more suitable clothing. She could hardly seek the Shield of Athena clad as she was. Dusk began to fall, but luckily the evening was warm, and a full moon gave her sufficient light to see her way. Then she came to a glade amongst the trees, with a stream of clear fresh water running through it. She decided that this would be as good as spot as any to spend the night. She tied the reins of her horse around the branch of a tree, took a drink from the stream and then lay down on the grass. Though it didn't make a very comfortable bed, she was tired and soon fell asleep. She awoke at dawn to find:
