"Damn! Damn! Damn!" cursed the doctor. "Get that toy out of
here!!!"
A boy of some nine years ran and grabbed his toy flying ship from out of his father's "play village". Then he ran off and out of the laboratory. He ran as fast and as far as he could. He knew he shouldn't have been playing so close to the laboratory, he knew that he shouldn't have wound up his toy so much and let it go wild like it did. He gripped his toy tighter and felt something wet on it. He looked at his hand and saw something red...blood? He quickly wiped his hands on his jerkin but he found no cut on himself, but if the blood didn't come from him, then who?
Doctor Praetorius looked with disgust at the glass village of Terra. It was ruined! He did not know how it had gotten there and he had intended on doing some tests on it, but it proved fortuitously perfect in holding his beloved little people. The warding ring still seemed intact, so any survivors would still be within, hiding no doubt in complete fear and terror. There was only a small fire in the bakery, the doctor quickly doused it with a pail of water. Then he began to call out: "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" There was no movement. "Come on, I won't hurt you, I am here to help you." Hiding within the cellar of an inn Fred found himself with a burly man who wore the robes of a king and a lithe lass who looked to be a dancer. He could hear the loud voice of the giant who entrapped him. Fred was utterly confused he didn't know who to trust, but he did sight Astra right before the horrible whiteness. Fred climbed the stairs of the cellar while the "king" and the "dancer" stayed below comforting each other. Fred entered the ground floor of the inn and looked through its windows outside. What he saw astounded him. The village was wrecked, as if something very large smashed right into it. He could smell smoke as from a fire and he heard some sobbing as well. Walking through the kitchen door he found a woman dressed in queen's clothing crying quietly. Beside her was the still form of a half-animal, a manimal to be exact. It was the vixen he had seen before, the one who greeted him, and she was dead. He could do nothing for the "queen" so he left there and walked out the back door to the chicken coup. In the courtyard he could see another body, this one he recognized. "No!" he screamed. It was Astra, and she too was dead. Unfortunately for Fred, his scream was heard by Doctor Praetorius. "Ah- ha!" exclaimed the doctor and quickly scooped up Fred and put him in a large bottle. "This is for you own good, while I repair the village."
Far from this scene, indeed, within a different Reality an evil being called Author Scoot was mightly ticked off. He had been toying with the universe inhabited by Fred and Doctor Praetorius, but now he was blocked from it. He didn't know how or by whom (although we know it is the Rules), but one day he would find a way back. But that would not be this day.
