The Never Ending Quest - Episode 1321

The girl screamed again and Fred turned to look at the object of her
stare. A small stone was twisting, rolling, bowling about the cavern
floor...and there was no one besides he and the girl in the room! The
girl's screams grew louder and Fred was oddly mesmerized by the rambling
stone. Then it stopped, and the girl stopped too. Fred turned to the
girl, he was going to try to get out of her where she had come from....yet
what he saw caused all thoughts to flee from his brain.
The girl was still cowering in the corner, she was wearing some outlandish clothing, the kind perhaps that some metalsmiths might work in, yet below the texture of the rough clothe Fred could see undulations in the girl's flesh. Her very skin was writhing! Her hands were pulsating as was the length of her lily-white neck, she turned to face Fred and her frightened frown had turned into a ghoulish smile. The hair upon her head turned from its natural colour to a brackish grey, the color in her eyes faded to white and her bones seemed to crack within her trembling little body. Then the girl spoke: "How nice to see you!" Fred wanted to vomit, the voice was not of the girl who only moments ago spoke of fear and dislocation, the voice was as one out of a tomb. The 'girl' lifted itself off of the floor, the very effort was slow, labored, and accompanied by much creaking of bones...its bones! It advanced upon Fred, slowly...step by step. Fred backed up. He wanted to turn and run; he wanted to run back the way he had come. Yet he too was mesmerized by the creature before him, paralyzed by that which he did not understand.
