Everything went black.
Fred awoke, a headache pounding through his system. A bodyache. He felt his head and winced at the goose egg on the top. He was a fool for allowing himself to be struck from behind.
The girl was nowhere in sight, which made sense as he was not where he had been.
He was in a cubbyhole, perched over a gigantic pit. Or something. He could not see any of the sides except the wall he was on. To the left a small pathway went up into the gloom. Light came from torches bolted to the wall.
Behind him the wall wasn't just a wall. It looked like one, sure but it swung on on well-crafted chains.

  1. Go up the side of the pit.
  2. Push the side of the cubbyhole away and leave that way.
  3. Sit there for a while and recover.
  4. Fred hears his mother.
