The Never Ending Quest - Episode 13138

Scott closes his eyes, clenchs his fists, and then begins. His voice shakes a little, but he's understandable enough.

"What we have here is a major catastrophe in Mundania that boiled over into the Xanth. There was a quick, deadly war that happened at the worst possible time for the Mundanes, and for Xanth. Mundania, at that time, was a political powder keg. War seemed inevitable, as so it was in what I call the late 21 century. Mundania is a much bigger place than Xanth....with a lot more people: around ten billion at the time of the disaster. Your Mundania, from what I gather, is crisscrossed with thousands of magical lines of energy called Ley Lines. Magic levels were so low in Mundania for thousands of years that magic was thought not to exist. This was a mistake both Mundanes and Xanthians made. On a night, Summer Solstice I believe, a small nuclear war broke out. Nuclear devices, weapons that can kill million when detonated exploded in cities in what I call South America. The psychic energy, magical energy, or whatever it was rushed into these Ley Lines. The Ley Lines flared and caused, indirectly, tidal wave, flooding, earthquakes, and other stuff to happen. This caused more deaths....more energy to pour into the Ley Lines....to the point that a place called Atlantis popped back up (or whatever) into the ocean after a long absence. This caused huge tidal waves that killed even MORE people. This went on through the night, until 1.5 billion people on Earth....Mundania were left. Civilization was ruined. There are major reprocussion to the return of magic even after the initial disaster.....but I don't want to discuss it at this time. What the Ley Lines did was send out shock waves felt throughout the Solar System.....don't ask......and into nearby dimemsions. Xanth, being righ next door, got clobbered by the shockwaves. The shockwave were temporal in nature as well as other things, so when it hit Xanth, splintering in the timeline occured. I can't explain in detail why this happened, but it's the only thing I could come up with." Scott winds up.

"And I can support Scott's theory." the bathrobed Humfrey confirmed. "And, to make matters worse, with the collapse of civilization.....of everything.....the Post Office was destroyed. Now, not only does the Post Office not acknowlegde we exist, just like last time our borders got sealed because the Post Office failed to acknowledge us, there is NO Post Office any more! We were linked to Mundania in even more ways than I thought! the temporal shockwave screwed us up royally. The Ley Lines of Earth/Mundania can do many things...even travel back and forward in time! We are....in trouble."

(Author Note: Ah, the nature of Ley Lines and TIME explain why we have the problems with Xanth. Xanth being already funky with it's relationship with Mundania since Xanth drifts throughout Mundania's timeline..... Capish?)

"No more immigrants to keep humanity from changing into different species or crossbreeds." a Trent says aloud.

  1. A alarmed roar breaks out amongst the teleconferencing group.
