Stacy waited for forgetfulness to strike - but it didn't! Was the dememorizer faulty, or was it possible that Mike might be not a double agent but a triple agent - if that was the correct term?

She realised that it was time for a bit of convincing acting, for the other two men - at least - must be genuinely the enemy. "Who are you?" she asked Helen and the men. "What's that strange device? What am I doing here? Come to that, who am I?"

  1. The men - and even Helen - appeared convinced. Mike turned the device on Helen.
  2. Unfortunately, play-acting was not one of Stacy's strengths.
