Fred picked himself up and staggered out from behind the large,
freestanding, metal sign. Yes, that's it. His name was Fred. The explosion that seemingly destroyed the diamond had caused multiple minor burns, cuts and scratches and made him think...weird. He had started referring to himself in another tense. Well, no more. The pit Fred was in was demolished. Everything torn apart into an unrecognizable mishmash of metal and stone. Except the sign. Fred staggered around. He must have been pushed into the sign by the force of the explosion and flipped over. Despite the chunks of debris embedded in it, Fred was still able to read the sign.
