The Reluctant Appearance

Fred turned around, grinning maniacally. "So here you are at last," he sneered.

"Er, now look here my good man..." Pozzo said, backing away slowly.

"I'm not your good man!" shouted Fred. "I'm sick of you're pathetic schlock! Everything's a joke to you, huh? Just clever little plays on words, silly options, ironic half-references to this bloody stupid game! Can't you write an episode where anything actually happens?"

"Now hold on," pleaded Pozzo, cowering in fear. "This Alya bit was pretty good, wasn't it? I mean, some interesting character development, a bit of romantic tension, not too heavy on the hormones..."

"And then what? You just leave the whole thing hanging for someone else to actually flesh out? Head off to do some stupid mucking about with Smithereens or something? Can't you finish what you started?"

"Well, a guy does have things to do..." said Pozzo lamely, his last words as a Quest character.

"So do I," Fred calmly replied, "so do I."

Without another word, Fred ran his sword through Pozzo's cowardly heart.

1. Pozzo is dead. The story is continued by a much more competent (and hopefully less self-absorbed) author.
