Sorry doesn't heal my leg, now does it?

The horse rolled his eyes. "Yes, that's nice, very good I forgive you, but can you at least bandage my leg? You could use that stick of yours for a splint if you want."

Andrea clumsily bandaged the horse's leg, eliciting multiple groans of pain from the poor animal.

"How come you never talked before?" Andrea asked timidly as they rested.

"Nobody has ever senselessly beaten me with a wooden staff before," sighed the horse. "I swear, sometimes I wonder why we put up with you humans." The horse gazed fondly into the distance. "It didn't used to be like this. I used to run free in the open plains and fields of this great land. I used to eat what I pleased, sleep when I pleased, shit where I pleased. As long as I didn't confuse the three, life was grand."

1. Andrea is overwhelmed with compassion for the horse's plight, and vows to release him from his life of captivity as soon as his leg heals.
2. Andrea gets bored with the horse's irrelevant babbling and wanders off in search of that ever-elusive romance.
3. Andrea wishes people wouldn't muck up her story with all this animal rights crap.
