Though Fred did not know the meaning of fear, he realised that he would
have no chance
against twenty men, so he turned to flee. If he could only reach the
surface then - if
it was true that the castle had been taken over by Exotica's followers -
he could try
to organise a counter-coup.
Fred had never been a particularly fast runner and, weighed down as he was by his knightly attire, he did not get very far before he was caught by his pursuers, who quickly overpowered him through sheer weight of numbers. They took his sword, tied his hands behind his back, and brought him back to where the now fully clothed Exotica was waiting for him. "Wait a minute," Fred said. "You said you faked the whole dragon thing. But what about Princess Astra, whom I encountered chained up just along the tunnel? She said the dragon was responsible."
