All three men were holding guns, and looked as if they would be quite willing and able to use them. "All right," said the first man in a calm, matter-of-fact voice. "Drop the gun. Hands where I can see them. You know the routine."

Reluctantly, Helen dropped her gun. The man gestured for her to kick it away, and she did so, scowling. "What the hell do you want?" she said, her voice shaking slightly despite her attempt to sound brave and belligerant.

The man smiled. "Come on, Helen, you know better than that. The man with the gun asks the questions."

"You know this man?" asked Stacy.

  1. "No," said Helen. Then, to the man: "How do you know my name?"
  2. "Yes."
  3. Helen squinted at him slightly, a puzzled look on her face. "Do I know you?"
