told. I'd wonder
about your sanity, if the remains of the chains attached to the Princess's
wrists did not provide
evidence that it really happened. We'll have to see about getting them
removed first thing
in the morning. But now it's getting late, and it's time for bed. You can
show the Princess to
the guest bedroom, son. As you know, it's next door to yours." He winked
at Fred who,
embarrassed, avoided his gaze.
Fred and Astra bade Fred's parents good night, and Fred escorted Astra along the passage that led to their adjoining rooms. As soon as they were out of earshot of his parents, Astra said: "Fred, doesn't all this strike you as just too good to be true? I mean, we're whisked away from the caverns to some strange place, and then we open a door and somehow find ourselves in your own home. And another thing. We haven't seen a single servant since we arrived. Your father's a duke, and there surely ought to be lots of servants. Where are they all?"
