The Never Ending Quest - Episode 11993

The Borg fires a strange green ray. The window is cored through. Everyone is thrown off their feet as the air is sucked outward. Seven looks for the distinctive crackle of force-fields appearing. They do not. Obviously, the Borg drone had managed an act of sabotage before encountering Neelix. Seven dodges a plate of replicated Bajoran jerked Riffle.
Romanclef, bracing himself on one table, fires illogically at another. Or not so illogically. The beam seperates the table from the floor. The flat side slams against the hole, blocking it.
Tuvok turns and fires at the still-alive drone. He is joined in moments by Romanclef. The drone's personal shields pop up, blocking the rays. Seven notices with a measure of relief that the shields are wavering. "Use hand phasers!" she calls. Tuvok and his man pull out their secondary weapons.
Neelix, from back in the kitchen, appears with a phaser. Good, he had listened to her recommendation to keep a weapon in the Mess Hall.
The new assault breaks down the shields and the Borg drone is killed.
Much later, Seven is assisting the Doctor with the autopsy. She discovers the drone is...

  1. one she had personally assimilated. The guilt staggers her.
  2. a favored Starfleet admiral, though to have died in Wolf 359.
  3. armed to explode!
  4. Ensign Alders, who had been listed as sucked out of a hull breach during the Caretaker incident. Were the Borg there even then?
