It was a scheme

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 119603

They were surely out of earshot when Jessamine tossed her against a hard surface, and Cinnamon heard her own dress rip with the motion. She could barely see in the pitch black night, but she heard Jessamine's bitter voice through her pain: "I hate stuck up pretty girls like you. Constantly adjusting your makeup and hair even though you have such beauty you could have anything you wanted - pah! It disgusts me. I knew that sort of pride would be twisted by the magic of this place, as has happened before with women like the ones who attacked us not long ago. You're about to join their ranks, as you deserve. I understand most of the time they lose their ability to talk after a few weeks, but that won't even be a problem with you, so there's no explaining your situation to the party. I'll be nice - get away from us right now, far away, and this can be a nice clean break. You won't get a better offer."

Cinnamon could barely even understand what she was saying, but when Jessamine gave her a solid kick moments later, she scrambled away. Balancing was inexplicably difficult. As she went her ruined dress fell off, though she retained her undergarments for now. Her arms - they had become - ?

She abruptly slipped, and all around her was open air, and she ralized she was falling. She flapped her arms desperately, and found they caught a lot more air than they normally should.

Her wings carried her far away, and she curled up miserably on a stony outcrop she found, hoping she would be safe.

In the morning, she found that a pool of water had formed such that she could see a dim reflection in it, and anyway, she could examine most everything but her face and back with her own two eyes. And she was horrified to find that she exactly resembled the monsters that had attacked them in the night. Her lovely soft skin had become coarse and mottled, her bouncy blonde hair stringy and dark. Her face had twisted, her lips malformed, her teeth grown crooked, her nose elongated, and her eyes black as night. But if that wasn't enough, the rest nearly drove her to madness at once: her feet had grown into gigantic talons, and her arms - they were gone! - replaced by huge mud-colored feathery wings.

She huddled back, weeping, and found that avian sounds issued from her throat - chirps and screeches just like a bird of prey. She was hideous - all her beauty, the only gift Belboz had given her, lost forever. What was she to do? Even voiceless, a gorgeous maiden like she had been would be listened to, but not a monter like what she had bcome. Hate began to creep into her heart
