Fred blinked, and looked around, suddenly bewildered. Her mind felt fuzzy. Wasn't this all wrong? But... she was suddenly so unsure... Everyone was staring! Her face felt hot. She looked to the tall man next to her for guidance, not remembering the question that had been asked of her, and he nodded subtly, encouraging, so she blurted, "Yes?" The man grabbed her at once and kissed her deeply, and she was shocked, but found quickly that she liked it. She was overwhelmed almost to the point of fainting, going limp in his arms, but he held her up, pulling her to her feet again when he was done. "Now comes to us your queen, my new wife, the Silver-clad, Folcrada of the Far!" he cried to the crowd of people, who were all howling in excitement. Folcrada? That wasn't her name. She built herself up, and by the next morning, she had determined that she wouldn't take any crap from anyone, and would always have to pretend to know what she was doing. Vodirk seemed to like that. She spent that first day almost completely with Vodirk, who was... well, he was fine. He touched her a lot, but she found herself wanting to touch him back. It was kind of fun. He was smarter than her, which was also fine... ...except he made her remember just yesterday, when she was smart, and big, and hairy, and... and... It was overwhelming! But she had to pretend it wasn't. She had to pretend she knew what she was doing. She was still bewildered, all the time, but she didn't act like it. And since she was queen, everyone had to listen to her. So she soon forgot that she didn't know what she was doing. She came to be filled with confidence. Now Folcrada was exceptionally slender [14255], and didn't have much conventional strength in the waifish body the voice had given her, but Vodirk trusted she was a capable warrior, and indeed she was. But this was because she was endowed with incredible abilities, ones she took a few days to discover:
