A man appears out of nowhere. He is rangy and well-shaped, someone Stacy
would give a second look at in a bar. He has a well-crafted guitar
strapped to his back, a thin but powerful beard and mustache and is clad
in loose jeans and a billow red dress shirt. The hot dog falls to his feet as he looks around. "What in the name of goodness happened here?" "I...um, don't know." "My." said the man, looking out the windows. "Back in the subway again. I took this car last week." "Well, that's a remarkably calm attitude." said Stacy. "For a man who was just teleported." "Think nothing of it. I've been through weirder stuff. My name's Jake. Jake Stonebender." "Stacy... um, not sure what the last name is." "I see. Maybe that's why I'm here." "I don't understand." "How about we get off at the next stop and I'll call my friends? We do this kinda thing a lot. But usually in the bar, not on the subway." "Um, you're odd. No offense." Jake sat on a seat. He gave his hot dog a longing look then turned back to Stacy. "Eh, I'm not a weirdo. But I'll ask Mike to send over some of the girls, if that makes you feel better." "Mike?" "Mike Callahan. He runs this bar out on Long Island...it's really quite a neat place. We do help people. Look, no biggie. You can get out with me and wait in the subway station. I won't touch ya'. Or I'll just get off next and...where did it go." Jake pulled out a couple of business cards. They were all different colors. "Just call up any of these guys and say that Jake said to take you to Callahan's and they'll help the hell out of you. We're nice guys. Really." (Author's note: The 'Callahan's' series of books by Spider Robinson are great).
