About seven years passed. Gerkka never gave them any trouble again, having been rendered completely incapable of anger or violence or even especially intense sadness or joy. Her emotions ranged from mildly despondent to pleasantly content. Finally, it was time. She had completed her sentence, and could return to her true form. As it happened, that true form was about the age of 32 now, and since she was always magically doped up, it wasn't necessary to put her to sleep to return her to it. She accepted the transformation with only some vague surprise, and in the end a beautiful woman in her early thirties stood in Arahim's workshop. He quickly clothed her in a simple cloth dress, and explained, "Gerkka, your sentence is fulfilled. You have served the kingdom faithfully for many years, and are now free to go, after you take some time to recover your full faculties." And some time was necessary indeed. Over several days, her human intelligence slowly returned. She was marvelously confused about who she actually was or what her goals should be now, and on the third day asked Arahim what she ought to do. He answered, "Oh, go find someone to marry. You're beautiful, my dear; any man would be glad to have you, and take care of you. It's quite an easy solution." It did sound easy, though it also felt... wrong somehow. But she would be hard-pressed to argue with Arahim, so she nodded, and got right to it. When she left the castle on the morning of the sixth day, she knew she had until sundown to find and secure a husband if she didn't want to live on the streets. And for the first time in almost forty years, she set off into the town. She got stares everywhere she went, and she shifted a bit uncomfortably, wondering why this felt so unfamiliar if she'd only ever been a beautiful young lady.
