To'og

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 118741

Gerkka nodded, taking plodding steps after Menter that shook the floor beneath her. The creature he led her to was in the midst of transporting amounts of stone it would take teams of dozens of men to move, even with mechanical assistance.

"To'og," Menter called up to him, "this is Gerkka. Gerkka, this is To'og. He's been with us three years now, and does great work."

Gerkka, who wasn't following any of this very well, stared at him, finding herself rather intimidated, for he was looking down at her from a height of almost eleven feet. He grunted vaguely in acknowledgment, but said nothing intelligible before turning and getting back to work.

The hour of magically-induced calm really did wonders, because by the end of it, Gerkka felt... oddly used to this new reality. Her mind wasn't nearly sharp enough to fully grasp the true horror of it, but everyone was treating her well so far, and she was back home, and knew what job she was needed for. It seemed a decent set of circumstances, really. And it was nice that To'og was here; this way she didn't feel so alone.

She spent the rest of the afternoon testing her own strength, and finding it immense, compared to anything she'd been able to do before. She rather liked it, really, and was looking forward to getting to use it. At the end of the evening, she was led to a large enclosure out by the stables, where To'og was already sitting, hunched over a deer he was tearing into. Gerkka toddled over, realizing her stomach was growling. To'og looked up at her approach, and

  1. growled, "To'og no like new one. Smell like human. Go way!"
  2. moved over to make room for her.
