A strange dynamic

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 118733

Unfortunately for Fred, he had been split into three parts, and each was very simplified: one unicorn had a childlike, obedient disposition and a desire to be comforted and nurtured, one was headstrong and noble and just a touch reckless, and one was kind and gentle and desired to help and heal. In order, these had the memories of Hannah, of Fred, and of Stellunira. They all had the brains of unicorns, which were rather smart for animals but still much dumber than humans.

"Interesting," Belboz mused, considering their shapes. "I suppose the unicorn's influence has affected your default form... or forms? It is a magical creature, after all. In any case, I think I'll just leave you in the enclosure with the male unicorn for now. Let's call you... Hanonlen, Fisella, and Stellunira." He was interested to see what sorts of relationships might form among four unicorns where three of them had originated from the same person.

The ex-Fred unicorn was whinnying in protest, but when Belboz waved his hands, these noises ceased. Belboz had enchanted all three of them with a mood-stabilizing hex that should keep them in line for at least a day or so. And with that, he sent them off to his lovely enclosure.

When Belboz returned the following evening to see how things were coming along, he found that...

  1. Stellunira had taken Hanonlen under her wing, almost as a mother, and the male unicorn, whose name was Ulyen, was showing great interest in Fisella.
  2. Hanonlen was gravitating towards Fisella, who was protective of her, while Stellunira had become fast friends with Ulyen.
  3. Fisella was stubbornly staying well away from the other three, Hanonlen was alone and sad, and only Stellunira seemed content.
  4. the three females were sticking very close to each other.
