A She-Beast

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 118706

Belboz shuddered at seeing her hideousness, and sighed. This was becoming far more trouble than it was worth. He had enough to deal with; the knight was truly gone, of that he could be certain. So he teleported the unfortunate maiden to a distant wooded land where she would be well out of harm's way and he would never have to see her again, though not before wiping her mind of any memory of him.

The girl woke up in a terrible confused state. All she could remember was that she had been betrothed to be married, and her name was Hannah. She felt... so different from how she should be. Where was she?

With effort, she stumbled around the forest, and at last found a pool of fresh water, which she drank from briefly before examining her reflection. And her poor fragile heart plummeted at what she saw.

She had to be in her mid-twenties at least, with a huge nose and chin, yellowed teeth (with multiple missing), mottled leathery skin, greasy brown hair (very thin and falling out in patches), gigantic black eyes (almost animal-like), and a horribly crooked spine. She was all elbows, her skin clinging to her bones, knock-kneed - everything was wrong.

She sobbed piteously for her lost beauty, bewildered and despairing of finding out how she had become this monstrous thing she saw in the pool. No wonder she had been thrown out into the wilderness - who could ever love a thing like her?

Presently she decided that even the lovely, ordinary name "Hannah" no longer suited her, although perhaps it hardly mattered; she seemed utterly alone here. Life as she knew it was over.

  1. The nature spirits in the forest took pity on her, showing her, in their own subtle ways, how to survive.
  2. The nature spirits in the forest were offended by her ugliness, and drove her out.
