The Deep Woodsss

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 118686

Bella immediately went slack as blackness overtook her.

When she awoke, she felt unbelievably strange. So much of her was... unresponsive? She wriggled around, unable to move any of her limbs. Why were these trees so big?

"Do not fret," said a voice above her, and she recoiled instinctively as she realized it was the naga Saa, back in his fully serpentine form. "Welcome to my woods. I am sorry for the trials you have undergone, but you are now part of the family. You shall be called Ishi, and never know fear or hunger again."

The poor girl had been transformed - this time into a female black rat snake! She was about three and a half feet long from nose to tail tip, with lovely glossy black scales on her back and white ones on her underside.

"You'd bessst get back to sssleep," said Saa kindly. "You need your ressst." And he slithered away, alarmingly silent in the grass, leaving Ishi alone.

The poor snake was still shocked through and through - that had not changed a bit since Saa's first appearance! After finally becoming a bit braver, she wriggled her long body experimentally, and was horrified at how easily it responded.

All at once she realized how hungry she was - she hadn't eaten in days. What... what did snakes eat? How... how was she supposed to eat?

It took many hours, but reluctantly, she began to slither, slowly and awkwardly, through the tall grass of the deep forest. Unfortunately, though, evening was now falling, and she felt horribly sluggish. At length, she curled up her long body to sleep for many hours, until the sun was up.

When she woke up again, she was alarmed by her situation, until after a few moments she remembered the nightmare in which she had found herself. Nate... Sir Nate... he was dead. He had died in a horrific way, and she was now trapped in this cold, limbless shape... She would have wept, but this body certainly couldn't do that.

She was still hungry.

She began pushing herself through the grass, and at length she noticed movement, but she realized it was another snake - this one with a distinctive rattle at the end of its tail. It ignored her completely as it vanished into the underbrush.

She saw many other snakes as she tried to navigate this new body and new environment, but none of them paid her any heed. She also saw many prey animals, but most of them were too quick for such a new snake who had never hunted before. Her stomach was so empty, and she felt weak, but her frustration bore her on, and at last, after trying for most of the day, she managed to find an old field mouse, and pounced before it could flee.

Thus she found that her species were constrictors. She instinctively squeezed the life out of the tiny animal, and watched intently as its thrashing slowed and eventually ceased in her coils. And her jaws unhinged as she swallowed it whole.

She was horrified beyond belief at the feeling of it, but she lacked any gag reflex, and simply continued pushing it down, down, until at last, it was gone. She found somewhere hidden to rest after the meal and wallow in her misery.

What kind of life was this? She was a horrid little monster, alone in a place with no emotion or honor or love. Life as she knew it was over.

  1. At length, Saa appeared to her again.
  2. She soon found that this region of the dark woods was not entirely as it appeared.
  3. She soon discovered that the snakes in this region - including her - had the ability to communicate telepathically.
