"The prophecy goes on to say, 'A girlish form will soften the heart / Of a brave dead hero, who'll play a part,' Belboz told Fred. "So you can expect to find help down there. My guess is that hero knew a teenaged girl in life, and this form will be the motivation he needs."
"So I'm expected to be this hero's girlfriend!?" Fred said, aghast. "Not necessarily. You seem a little young for that. Maybe he will see you as the daughter he never had. The prophecy isn't sufficiently specific for me to tell." "Why couldn't I, as a knight, have done what this hero is supposed to do? Surely I'm heroic enough?" "I dare say, but that wouldn't be what the prophecy foretells, and it would be too risky to diverge from it." "You're asking me quite literally to go on a suicide mission. What if I refuse?" "Then I'm afraid it would become a murder mission, with the murder committed by me. One way or another you are going to do this." Belboz turned, and picked up a beaker from the table behind him. "This is a quick-acting and painless poison. Either you drink it willingly or I force you to drink it. Which is it to be?"
