Freda was tremendously saddened at the loss of her knightly life, everything that she had once had, but it seemed to her that if she continued on this quest, there were far more risks than turning back. What if she died or became trapped in the swamp? What if she failed, and Vycynth simply trapped her again? What if she succeeded, and Vycynth double crossed her? She would never be able to help Allaria. This way, even if it came at great cost to her, she could. So she left the swamp mere hours after arriving. The faint line of magic showed her the way back to Vycynth's, but she ignored it. She would have to begin by figuring out where she was. This would be a challenge, but it was certainly necessary; from there, she'd hopefully be able to plot a course back through the southern caves, and this time, ideally, she wouldn't get lost. She wandered, grazing here and there. It hadn't occurred to her before, but she eventually surmised that Vycynth had cast a spell that halted her milk production, because it had been many days since she'd been milked and she was experiencing no discomfort.
