Someone Walks In

The man is short and dumpy. He's wearing an ugly, stained yellow robe and is chewing on a toothpick.

"Hiya, toots." he said, unabashedly staring. "The Guys Upstairs sent me to tell you about the quest. Seems the teenage queen of this castle got herself up and captured by some Hespan landpirates. She's being held ransom in some black tower. Normally the queen and kingie would've sent their best dudes to storm the place but a, the tower moves, and b, the guy who used to be in charge, a wizard named vic or something, got himself whacked by the pirates so they're taking it careful. Got it?"

"We understand." said Fred.

"Good." said the man. "Take a left out this door and down the stairs. You'll find your supplies and three cannon-fodder, I mean warriors, to help you out. Thanks for the eyeful, toots." The man faded away.

Fred yanked some clothes out of a closet. Once the two were dressed, they opened the door. Sure enough, there were sounds from the left hand passageway. But there was also a right-hand passageway.

1. They go right and sneak around, planning to gauge the measure of the three men.
