Fred started immediately, shocked at the uncomfortable feeling of thick fur all over his skin, of an extra limb, of retractable claws hidden in his paws--of suddenly being a longhair cat! He looked around frantically, and though he didn't recognize his surroundings, his eyes fell on Prince Jasper, and he realized he was back in the palace he, as Lilith, had been trying to escape! But... but he was a cat!
