Off to the banquet

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 118272

"Of course, dear," Annabella said, smiling, excited to go to a nice event with her darling husband. And at her former home, no less! She knew she wouldn't be able to tell anyone who she was, lest they try to take her away from Belboz, but she was overjoyed to have the opportunity just to see her old friends and her king again.

Belboz told her nothing else, only saying, "Well, go make sure you know what you're wearing and then run along to bed. We will teleport directly there at 6pm tomorrow."

She obeyed, although she still didn't have the hang of selecting women's clothes at all. She picked out a dress she knew Belboz liked on her, a shimmering blue gown that matched her enormous eyes. However, when Belboz walked in and saw her holding it, he cried, "What, that? That's beautiful when it's just me looking at you, but to a banquet hosted by a king? You really are hopeless! Fine, I'll do it myself, like I do everything. Just go to bed; hopefully you're not too thick to figure that out!"

Annabella retired quietly, crushed to the point of tears that she'd disappointed Belboz so. She spent the next day doing her best to make it up to him, and when it was time to leave, he waved his hand, and the simple frock she'd been wearing all day transformed. The sleeves puffed up and the skirt ballooned out to a diameter of eight feet. She felt something heavy under the skirt supporting it, but she didn't feel the need to investigate. Her hair rose up and arranged itself in a large pile of braids and curls, and she felt something push up her heels, leaving her teetering dangerously on what felt like stilts (even though it only got her up to about five feet even). She was horribly uncomfortable, but when Belboz grinned and said, "There, now you look like a wife I can be proud of!" it was absolutely, unquestionably worth it.

He pulled her close to him to perform the teleport, but before he did...

  1. she glimpsed him slipping a vial of dark liquid into his pocket.
  2. he turned to her and said, "Oh, you'll be giving a speech at the banquet, by the way."
  3. he cast a small spell and said, "There, I've programmed you with the female version of all the rules of etiquette, and plenty of grace. Can't have you embarrassing me."
