Nate leaped to his feet in alarm, crying, "Bella! Are you all right?" But as soon as he was up he was hit by a wave of dizziness, and all too soon crashed to the floor, asleep himself. Phelyp took a deep breath and stood up. He'd had to drug the knight as well, because he sincerely doubted he would sit idly by as he did this, but... she'd lost her voice, and spent the last three years hidden in a hut in the woods? He was not ignorant of what went on in the kingdom, and he knew that three years before, Prince Jasper's beautiful mute bride-to-be had vanished. Here she was, and Phelyp was not about to let the promised reward slip through his fingers. She was so small that it was hardly obtrusive to hide her beneath a blanket on a vegetable cart and start on the journey to the palace. He did, however, also load Nate onto that cart, so that he could dump him in a random spot in the forest, hopefully keeping him off their scent long enough to deliver the goods. He felt he had little to fear from the knight in any case; by the time he woke up, it would be too late, and knights were not prone petty vengeance. This one seemed rather mild. No, he was more likely to quest to reunite with this girl than to try to get back at Phelyp for his part in all this. The journey took some time, a full week in fact [109589]. Phelyp continued to administer extra doses of sleeping potions whenever the knight stirred. It wasn't healthy or safe, but he was an old man, and he couldn't fight off this strong, well-trained youth. Keeping him unconscious was really the only option. The girl, though—the princess—was fully awake after a day, but too weak to break out of the ropes he'd tied around her wrists and ankles. He'd blindfolded her as well, and she only thrashed around feebly every once in a while. Phelyp wasn't overly proud of this, but he never had any second thoughts. The princess would be fine, anyway. She would have a soft, easy life. If anything, he was doing her a favor.
