They had been sent in the early afternoon. As evening approached on the seventh day, they took to sitting together in nervous silence, their confusion and anxiety mounting with every passing minute. Eventually Tandrus looked over at Lila and said, "How can this be? Ginnie... She has never been able to spark a transformation that lasted this long." Lila did not respond at all; there was nothing to be said. It was true. True, Ginnie had been improving in this area over the last several years, but one week was as long as she'd ever stretched it to. "I'm sure we'll zap back home sometime in the night," Tandrus said, not sounding sure at all. They retired to bed without supper, as the kitchen had been stocked with exactly enough meals for one week, and as such, they had run out. And sure enough, the following morning when they awoke, there they still were. Tandrus got up to go outside and pace. He didn't say this, but Lila knew it, because it was what he did when stressed. Lila simply stayed in bed, though she was wide awake. There wasn't much thinking to be done, though. It was as it always was: even if she came up with an idea, she had no way to articulate it, so there was little point in ideas at all. In the end, it would be Tandrus who decided what to do. And indeed they must do something; they couldn't remain here with no food. But neither of them knew how to feed themselves as humans... What were they to do? The day wore on. Lila eventually went outside to sit by the lake and listen to her stomach growl. They continued to be present, and human.
