A Long Time in Coming This Scene

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 118117

Of course, that is when a flash of light and force blasts its way through our area and pretty much knocks each and every last one of us on our asses . . .

Back at the scene of the crime . . .

Rei Takahashi

Oh we cannot have that now, I think to myself as I lift the softly crying Mordred off the ground while ignoring a small flashing indicator on my hud flash with an incoming communication request.

. . .

I am wearing my old EVA head clips right now. In addition to being in part WHY my power armor is so maneuverable (and a similar head clip is what the Caster sisters are utilizing for their power armor), it affords for a pseudo-heads-up display for my use in case you were unaware. Now you know.

Anyway! I pick up the sniffling infant that the ground and make a few soft cooing noises to quiet her disquiet before turning back towards both the newly transformed Fairy Queen and our unannounced Hannah. The Queen is looking at Hannah in obvious interest (albeit warmly) while Hannah is looking at the Fairy Queen in awe.

Fine and well, but frankly this just won't do. While heartwarming in a way, we don't have a lot of time here AND while the queen here is being all warm and such with Hannah here? While Hannah is in awe of the Fairy Queen? Well, we all are on the clock AND the queen IS ignoring her actual offspring here. That is why little Mordred was getting a bit fussy here, she wanted her fa. . . NO! Better not call the Queen (whatever she's calling herself now) a "father", even IF technically she DID sire Mordred back when she was a HUMAN woman!

. . .

Merlin had a LOT of nerve to play magical trickster like that with Arturia. She had to play the part of the King (and that meant masquerading as a man). She played the part willingly and even married Guinevere, but from what little she told us about it it was more political necessity than anything else. And she was very . . .uncomfortable with the whole "gender identity" issue surrounding that business. That I and the others could easily see . . .

. . .

And here I go again, raving about things I am sure we've all heard about. About me and my party's grief with Merlin. Time to stop beating a dead horse and concentrate on the task at hand!

What is it, you ask? I think you already know, or SHOULD know. But . . . okay.

"Your Majesty?" I cough, drawing the attention of the entity who once called herself Arturia Pendragon (and everyone else knew as King Arthur, King of the Brits). "Little Mordred you may want to see?"

Yes, I do rather think the little one DOES indeed want to see the Fairy Queen at that! For all I know her desires had been so STRONG that it was able to prevent her from being teleported to whatever shadowy realms this NEW place came from here. Why the Pulling the Sword from the Stone local should have been in limbo in the first place was confusing enough to me. A mystery that I do NOT have time to explore at all. Do hope that the people who got swept up

The Fairy Queen now calling herself Titania frowns slightly in annoyance, really wanting to admire the young girl child before her. A girl child glowing almost in her beautiful innocence.

Whatever rebuke Titania--for that IS what her name is now and forevermore shall be NOW and her time and even NAME before now was hardly important--dies upon her lips as her unearthly beautiful face pales more than slightly at the baby in Rei's arms.

Queen Titania (formerly known as Arturia Pentdragon)

What?

WHAT?

WHAT?!

T-that is the offspring of my former . . .? That is Mordred? The product of my former . . . the product of MY blood?!

And she was in rebellion because my former self . . .because I . . .

I was almost born out of wedlock. I was almost a bastard and loathed . . .I swore NEVER to be as my father for what HE . . .

And I bore a child into the world because of that DAMNED . . .

But . . .but . . .she . . .I!

"It's not your fault," I whisper, looking into the confused face of my child. "You did nothing wrong and . . .It is not your fault."

"Baba?" Mordred cooed, confused by her sire's behavior. "Baba?"

"Not your fault!" the Fairy Queen muttered softly, inadvertently pouring powerful fey magicks into the crystalline tears now falling from her eyes and onto her babe's face, which promptly are absorbed into the infant's skin.

A mystical glow begins to show from the still confused babe's features, causing something that Rei almost sighed at but honestly could NOT fault the fairy for doing. Before as King Arthur, Arturia had pushed away Mordred upon learning of the poor young woman (who DID at the time self-identified as a MAN, let's get that out). One thing led to another (a some of which has the fingerprints of Arturia's half-sister Morganna all over it), and Mordred led a rebellion against her "sire". However, now as a Fey? The now Fairy Queen (formerly King Arthur) cannot deny her Fey heart, now ready and not able to do anything else but claim Mordred as her offspring: her daughter. NOT her son Mordred, her daughter even though she had sired Mordred.

. . .

If asked, Rei would inform you that the Fey folk--do NOT call them fairies OR ASK them about THIS unless you're given permission OR have a twisted desire for new and interesting courses to be inflicted upon your mind and body--have instinctively enforced views on gender and gender identity. Meaning that while you might call those in the human community might call homosexuals "fairies", you'll NOT find actual fairies (at least of Terra Prime and many closely related having that kind of . . .crossover. Humans have more . . .leeway in certain things than the fey folk and let us just leave at that. And so that means. . .

"Ba . . .Mamma?" Mordred (or whatever the now soon to be fairy princess and heir to the Fairy Queen's throne blinks, looking lovingly up into the Fairy Queen's eyes. A small hint of fairy bells can be barely heard in Mordred's voice near the end. That and the tips of Mordred's golden locks begin to get a slight silvery skin.

. . .

It means that at best Mordred is going to act only a little tomboyish growing up, and not much more.

And with that, the Fairy Queen formerly known to the world as King Arthur and Mordred go through a bonding Rei Takahashi quietly escorts little Hannah away to the side.

"But why is She crying?" Hannah protested softly, gesturing towards the person in question. "Can't we do something for her? It's not right!"

"It's . . .not my place to tell you why the Queen is crying," Rei reassured little Hannah, shushing any further protests and keeping a VERY firm hand on the young girl to keep her close at hand. "But this IS very needed for Her and the little babe's sake."

  1. "You there! I will have word with you!"
