Logic, chivalry, common sense, past history

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 117570

Lord Fred chooses his next words with care.

"When I first found you," Sir Fred tells the girl, "You were manacled to a wall. You are still bound in chains."

"And?" The princess asks, imperiously.

"If we go by past history, you are not likely to escape the caves, much less make it back home, unescorted. You are ill equipped. And now you are also hampered by the chains."

"What I lack in equipment I make up for in spirit!" The girl answers.

"Hope is not a plan, and spirit is not an armament," Sir Fred says, quite reasonably. "Please, let me accompany you back out of the caves. We are not yet lost in this maze of tunnels and caverns. At this point, we can return to the world we know, and prepare better for whatever lies ahead. Otherwise, we seem to be making burdens to carry that we do not need to bear."

The princess quivers with frustration.

"Is this what knighthood has fallen to? Common sense and pettyfogging?"

  1. "You wound me," Fred tells Astra.
  2. "Nevertheless."
