"You three, being now magic cows, will produce magic milk! What a lovely little dairy farm I've formed." He chuckled, and turned to Freda. "But you, my dear... you are quite special, are you not?"

"I'm a questing cow," she supplied. "Though I'm just as happy staying put."

He cocked his head. "Have you always been able to talk?"

"My last owner made it so I could."

"Ah." He was rather disappointed that she was, in fact, not an inborn talking cow. "Why would he do that?"

  1. She dipped her head in a motion not unlike a shrug, and he dropped the issue.
  2. She strained to recall, and finally responded, "He wanted to ask me how I got turned into a cow."
