In search of Velus and Astra via the left passage

"Greetings!" says the old man. He wears a white robe and he has a huge tome opened directly in front of him.

"I am looking for Velus and Astra." you say.

"Let's see - would that be a dog and a human female?"

"Yes."

"I heard of those two, but as far as I have been told, they don't exist." says the old man.

"How do you know?" you ask.

"I am a sage. I know these things. For starter, Lord Fred did explore the cave, but he encountered a bear. The bear was planted by the dragon. The bear was designed by the dragon to kill anyone that crosses its path, and then mimic the personality of the latest person who was killed. Lord Fred was killed, but Lord Fred's personality that is being mimiced by the bear causes the bear to refuse to kill anyone else because Lord Fred cannot hurt another person, and thus wanted to talk. It has been a while since that happened."

So you didn't kill Lord Fred. That's a relief.

"As for Velus and Astra, they were created by the image of Sir Toby who knew Lord Fred and he also knew that Lord Fred was killed by the bear because he spoke to the bear in question. But Sir Toby didn't like the idea of having Lord Fred being killed by that bear so he invented the two creatures and spread false tales about these three on the quest to kill the dragon."

You ponder the sage's words. Could he be telling the truth?

"I suppose you are wondering about the fate of Sir Toby, Sir Josh and Sir Paulito." says the sage. "Sir Toby tried to find a way to revive Lord Fred but he was transformed by the dragon into a cat. Sir Paulito also encountered the dragon and was transformed into a dragon that looks like the real dragon. So be careful which dragon you kill. As for Sir Josh, he is buried in computer program waiting to be invoked from a certain computer terminal."

"What should I do?"

"I say you should turn back and stay out of this cave, because if you encounter that dragon, you will be put under a spell, that will be the end of you unless someone can kill the dragon which should be sufficient to break all the spells cast by the dragon."

Wise advice for a wimp. But you are not a wimp. And you need to find and slay the right dragon. You can...

1. Ask the sage more questions.
2. Continue your quest to find the right dragon so you can slay it.
3. Ask the sage if he is willing to come with you on your original quest.
