It had been a few years now since Frita and Taurill had joined together. Fairies' gestation lasted much longer than that of a human, about two years. Frita was only a few months along, but she already loved the child she and Taurill had made deeply, and could not wait to meet him or her. Celeste and Arion, who were still their closest friends, were very excited for them as well. Everyone was, as Frita was known throughout the forest.

Frita was about halfway through her pregnancy, but not really showing yet, when

  1. a group of strangers arrived in Blueleaf.
  2. Taurill went missing.
  3. Amaralis, queen of the fairies, came to Blueleaf to enlist Frita's services.
