"I do?" asked Frita in a small voice, eyes glazed. "You do. More than you've ever loved anyone or anything." Snapping back to clarity, Frita suddenly realised the voice was right. How stupid she had been! Taurill was handsome and strong and cared for her deeply, and she for him. They had come from very different places, but they were meant for each other. He was her destiny. She flew back as fast as she could, and found Taurill close to where she'd left him, head down, being comforted by Arion. She approached him, threw her arms around him, and kissed him deeply. He was clearly shocked, both because of the way she'd left him and because fairies did not kiss, and so he did not reciprocate, but he didn't stop her. She wanted to ask him to be hers forever, but she knew--though she did not know where the knowledge had come from--that it was the male's place to ask such a thing. He must offer her a spritestar flower, and they could join themselves to each other for all eternity. Though fairies lived far longer than humans, their courtships were far faster. But Taurill took a very long time to make the offer, a staggering three weeks. Every moment was torment for Frita, but finally he offered her a spritestar, and she accepted in an instant. Just a few days later, they were joined forever, in the fairy equivalent of marriage. Frita knew this tethered her to him forever, and she had never been happier.
