Ballimore stepped into an alleyway, and when he stepped out he had taken the form of an unassuming young woman of about 18 wearing traveler's clothes. He followed the group of women at a short distance, listening to their mundane conversation for a while. By the time they were leaving the market, it was clear that the sixth woman had some sort of authority over them, and that they all regarded her with the greatest of respect. They all appeared to be headed to the same building too. He would have guessed perhaps they were sisters, except the leader was obviously not the eldest and they didn't really look alike. Ballimore scoped things out, stayed the night at an inn, and hung around outside the following morning waiting for them to emerge. Quite early, the five did, apparently to go on an early morning walk. He approached and asked, "Excuse me, ladies, could I join you? I don't know this area well." "Of course!" said a few at once, and he, still disguised as a young woman whom he introduced as Balma, accompanied them and began to get to know them. They all seemed very feminine, at the very least, and fairly simple, so he wondered if perhaps they had originated as a peasant girl. They told him they had once been poor travelers on their own but had met shortly before arriving at this town, and had been given a home and a livelihood by Jane, the sixth woman. Ballimore listened closely, impressed by Jane's kindness, and that of Jane's husband as well, but also suspicious of a few details, especially their obvious love for Jane's brothers, of whom there were also five. He knew he couldn't discount the possibility that Jane had been the one to cast the multiform spell, but it seemed strange that such a powerful sorcerer would live such a simple life, not to mention how it seemed she treated them so well otherwise.
